Dinner on the Chainless; A Meal and a Farce

Dinner on the Chainless was a pleasant experience. It was a stark contrast to most of the meals that Guy shared with family or friends, which usually consisted of looks of disappointment and uncomfortable small talk, with dessert being vulgar shouts of fury. Ilana had given Guy some confidence with her agreement to help him obtain his coveted blade and even offered to teach him how to use it. She claimed not to be a master but she knew enough. It didn't really matter how much she knew, she could teach him everything wrong and it wouldn't make a difference. It was just the idea of wanting something for a certain amount of time and then eventually earning it. Knowing how to use it was relative. He wasn't planning on fighting with it, but knowing how to use it wouldn't be a bad thing.

Guy stared blankly at Ilana as she finished talking, drifting off somewhat. It wasn't that he uninterested, he just had a tendency to zone out from time to time, remaining in his own head. Once he came back to reality he put his hand up and clapped them lightly together. "Alright, sounds good." He said, smiling brightly. His anxiety about the job was almost completely gone.

Statements of disapproval came from Guy's right. Tai Minh seemed to dislike Guy's desire for the weapon, and Marcus and Ilana's encouragement. Guy chose to ignore Tai Minh, as he usually did when he tried to explain to him that he was being foolish. When Jay snorted at Tai Minh's comments, Guy let out a burst of laughter. He had scoffed countless times at Tai Minh and it was a welcome change to hear someone else join him. He wasn't sure why Jay apologized but he was far more polite than Guy.

Amelia's interest in Guy boosted his confidence to a whole new level. When she spoke again, Guy almost completely forgot that he was every nervous about going off world. He was shocked that a woman like her was taking an interest in him and was surprised at how direct she was. When she mentioned the value of a man knowing how to use his sword, Guy's face went blank. He sat there, motionless for a moment. He then turned to Tai Minh, with a smile on his face and whispered the words 'She wants to fuck me.' Not acknowledging the fact that Amelia was still sitting right next to him.

Marcus had finished the rest of what was on his plate, having scrapped the last of what he'd dished out for himself into portions and eating them at a steady pace.

Everyone seemed to be finding a balance with each other in the conversation. Amelia was hanging on to Guy, who was enjoying the attention given to him by Ilana and Marcus, both of whom seemed a bit detached from the rest of the conversation.

Jay was being a little skittish and clumsy but it was more than Hawkeye, who was mostly silent for his part of meal. 

Nobody was complaining about the food though, or the sauce, for those who'd taken it. That was good enough for Marcus. He figured he'd get a message from Dare soon enough, he picked up his dishes and headed to the sink.

He quickly rinsed and scrubbed his dishes before placing them on the drying rack.

"Gonna check the comms, see if the job intel's come through early." He spoke to the group as a whole. Both to announce he was leaving the room, his general destination, and purpose. He added the 'early' to suggest that they were on, or at least, ahead of schedule. 

As far as Marcus could tell; they were anyway.

He exited the galley but not before stopping and turning back to his medic-cook. "Nice Meal, Jay." He spoke with a smile before heading along the catwalk, toward the bridge.

Jay smirked at Guy when he laughed. Jay didn't think that being disrespectful toward religion would be considered a funny thing. 

As Marcus thanked him, Jay responded by lifting his glass, "Thanks for the sauce, boss."

Tai Minh Tian


Cutting a piece of what was in front of him with a fork, Tai Minh had another bit of the food. He thought the taste of it was fine, with the sauce he probably wouldn’t have liked it very much. He found that simple things were the best thing for him, and thus this was fine for him. He heard the person give a snort, but he didn’t know why. Tai Minh was not sure if it was something good or bad, as Tai Minh frequently made a similar sound when he was amused. However wasn’t sure what this was as directly after it was done he apologized for it. Tai Minh didn’t know why even still, as he did not understand what was happening there. He thought that perhaps he had been mocked by him, but he didn’t see how. Even still Tai Minh had been around people who had mocked him before, quite brutally. There were some that didn’t like him for whatever reason, perhaps it was in that he represented something hat they very much didn’t like. Regardless Tai Minh never took much notice of such things on the whole. Everyone had their own way about things, and while Tai Minh opted not to mock people, it wasn’t to say that it wasn’t a common, almost natural thing for humans to do it.

Tai Minh went back to his food for the moment, just eating. He ate at a gradual, yet fairly quick pace. Food was important for the sustenance provided, and it was good to admire taste, but having too much admiration was an easy lead in to a form of gluttony that Tai Minh did not wish to have. He looked up a moment to hear the conversation to his right continuing. It was the yellow haired woman who had been talking to Guy. This was rather confusing for Tai Minh, as the way she was speaking Tai Minh knew full well Guy was not accustomed to, at least as long as he had known him. And even still this was something he could visibly see somewhat. He had an immediate trouble in that Guy was already drifting towards instantly foolish idea, but now he was moving in towards another one no doubt, especially given the words of the woman. He did not recall her name, but he could see that she was going in the same direction.

The amplification came at the moment of Guy looking at him with the moronic smile he would sometimes carry at moments of doing something that wasn’t necessarily the best idea. ”Tôi hiểu” Tai Minh said, speaking in a language that he learned at the monastery when he was younger, that no one around him likely understood. He had yet to come across someone who wasn’t at the monastery who did. Perhaps he had come across someone at one point who did, and they just didn’t say anything. Tai Minh stopped his fork a moment, and looked forward and up, though at the direction of both the woman and Guy. His mind went to his book, and the words went through his mind as though they were in large letters before his face.”Rúguǒ tóunǎo bù chún, tā huì dǎozhì jiǎo bàn dào yán zhe cūcāo hé jiānnán de dàolù.” He said, then looking back down towards Guy. After a pause he continued just as the book had a switch would have suggested giving. ”There will be many a fall, and much pain.” He announced. He went back to his food, not but a moment after. He knew there wasn’t really anything he could do to stop Guy from doing what he would. But so long as the warning was there, it may be something to keep Guy at least having a single thought about it, though even that wasn’t likely.

Amelia


Amelia smiled at Guy, he was absolutely right, she wanted to get him in her bed, if she was gonna be stuck on a ship, with a preacher, Theodore, a sly, and the captain she was going to need someone to have fun with, and Amelia didn't swing the lesbian way. So Guy was the perfect fuck buddy. 

Amelia was sure Guy didn't care what Tai thought, but all the same it was obvious both of them understood her obvious signals. Why was she so into Guy, she can't be in love "Hey preacher, if you can join us in the throws of premarital sex, I'd love it. Amelia gave Tai the biggest wink.
