Jay smirked when Tai Minh responded to Lulah, then again when Ilana kicked her. She deserved it. She could sometimes be a little too outspoken, if that were possible. Probably, considering not many took her serious with the way she talked. Ilana then spoke, explaining that they would be heading out soon. She said that no one was to disrespect Tai Minh’s religion. Jay nodded in agreement. He wasn’t religious himself, he never was, but he never had a bad image of it. In some ways, he even admired those religious folk for having the strength to have faith in something. Jay wasn’t one to believe in something merely on faith. At least, not usually.
Then, she said that they were doing things differently this time around. Jay was about to speak up after she said this, but he waited until she had finished. After, a man named Roman walked up. “Also, if you ask who Roman is, again there is a good chance I won’t tell you, so you’d probably be wasting your breath,” Ilana said. Jay figured they must have been hooking up or some such nonsense. He didn’t really care – he didn’t know the guy and as of right now he didn’t much care to. Jay was instructed to ride with the group to the ship and he agreed.
“Any questions before we head out?” Ilana finished. Jay was about to speak up, but Lulah beat him to it. So, he settled for the last bit of his drink. He was curious as to any sorta legal trouble they might get into doing legal jobs with The Chainless’ record. He was going to bring it up to Ilana, but Jay figured he could bring that up in private.
“Yeah – I reckon y'all can fill me in on the way but, is this Roman fella here comin' with us too or is he jus'... givin' us a ride? … Would you look at his suit! Must be a real A-grade 'ride' huh?”
Jay snorted a laugh and coughed. He choked on his screwdriver and stood up so he could step away from the group while he hacked. Once he was finished, he sniffed and muttered, “Damn you,” to Lulah.
