I turned to the man and offered my hand. "Name's Rina. Ship engineer. Pleased to meet you." A firm grip, a shake, and a release. I had nothing to prove. I faced him square and decided he had an honest enough face. Trustworthy enough for a little candor from me. "Actually, I'm kind of amazed that out of all the bars in all the Verse I could have walked into, I walked into the one that had two friends I never thought I'd see again."
Which was absolutely true, classic reference notwithstanding.
"How'd you come to know Marcus and Ilana? Been flying with them long?"

Ilana gave a high yelp of surprise, then laughed at Rina's response. She spoke to Marcus and Ilana nodded, not knowing for sure what Rina did, but with as many people as they had on the ship now, she could pretty well bet that it was something they already had one of. Didn't matter though. Rina was solid, dependable.
Polite introductions were being made all around and Jace made an offhand, jibing remark about Jay's cooking. The guy was no five star chef, it was true, but at least it was edible, and damn tasty most times. Jay fired right back with a quick retort about Jace not cooking at all, which was completely true too.
Ilana snorted a laugh and took a swig of her drink, feeling it burn all the way down. Jay spoke to Marina, “Sorry about that. We’re a little scatter-brained in this group, especially when the drink is involved.” He held out his hand, “Name’s Jay. I’m the medic and the kind-of-cook.”
Rina shook Jay's offered hand man "Name's Rina. Ship engineer. Pleased to meet you."
Ah, that's right. Engineer… I thought, as Rina introduced herself to Jay.
"Actually, I'm kind of amazed that out of all the bars in all the Verse I ccould have walked into, I walked into the one that had two friends I never thought I'd see again."
"I'd forgotten you were an engineer, Rina. What with everything we manage to get ourselves into in the 'verse, having two of us probably wouldn't hurt," I said, smiling a little, either at the reunion or the drink… Maybe the conversation. More likely all of it.
"How'd you come to know Marcus and Ilana? Been flying with them long?"
"Met Jay back on Beaumond. We both worked for Longstreet back then. It wasn't a bad gig, but I don't care much for having my feet on solid ground these days… Ilana said truthfully. The feet of the dirt under her feet wasn’t so much of a comfort as it used to be.
"Give me manufacturer gravity any day, I said, seriously, but with a smile.
Realizing I'd butted in an answered for Jay, I said, "My bad." I had a tendency to do that sometimes. It wasn't intentional, it's just how
Turning to Marcus, I said, "Speaking of getting out of the world, we should probably head out soon. I got our things from The Chainless stored in a safe place at the moment, but the battery won't last forever."

I took one last sip of my beer and put it on the table. I had my duffel at my feet and nothing demanding my presence elsewhere. Ready to go. Even so, I waited to see what the others would do.

Marcus nods at Ilana, this was one heck of a group and it was going to be a comfy fit, getting everyone together in one ship. Still: it was within atmo tolerances for the ship's size and class, so that wouldn't be a problem. He wrote down an address three times on separate scraps of paper, he handed one to Ilana, another to Honna, and the last to Rina.
"This is the address for where the ship is currently docked." He looked at Honna specifically. "If your up for this, be there with whatever you're taking with you by tomorrow morning.
[Tag: Honna]
He turned to the Mira. "I'm on my way back there, so I can show you the shuttle, and you can suss out for yourself if it's enough room for your needs, and can fly it to wherever you've got your effects stored."
[tag: Mira]
"I'm with Ilana on getting back to black, planetside's fun but it's a slow kinda fun."
He stood and threw some credits on the table for a tip. He buttoned up his coat against the evening cold and smiled as he waited for the Companion to follow.

((sorry rl has been cray cray for me. I am here and I am posting))
Mira looks to everyone and just smiles, she likes this easy banter it quickly became a comfort that she really wants to have continue. Everyone had their own little quirks that she has begun to enjoy. Marcus' firm yet respectful nature, Ilana's firey 'takes no crap' attitude, Jay's pretty boy sensitive type, Rina's quick wit almost subtle caring nature, and Jace's irritating but protective nature. Mira liked this feeling from this meeting. She was able to read what these people and that made her feel safe. She hadn't felt like that in a very long time and wanted it to continue.
Marcus looked to her and she watched his eyes as he spoke. "I'm on my way back there, so I can show you the shuttle, and you can suss out for yourself if it's enough room for your needs, and can fly it to wherever you've got your effects stored." She nodded and smiled. "I would rather enjoy that thank you, Marcus. I would like to see the place I will be calling home." She began to stand to follow Marcus out. She pushed her silks down and pulled her hair up into a bun that sat on top of her head. The scars that marred her back began to peek through. As and after thought, she jerked realizing that they were showing. She was by no means embarrassed by them, but she always hated reliving that story. She pulled her shawl over her shoulders. The intricate tattoos ran down her arm like a netted sleeve to her hand and stopped in a lotus flower on her hand.
Mira placed her glass down and started for the door she turned and looked at Marcus. "Most of my stuff is on planet, I have people looking after it. I don't need to go anywhere special to pick up my things." She smiled at him, she was ready to get started. Mira was ready to get back to work and begin starting a life of her own. She no longer wanted to be anywhere in particular but being everywhere. An adventure that is what she ached for and she was thoroughly convinced she was going to get just that with this group of people. Unable to help herself she pulled a little mirror out of her satchel and applied a fresh coat of crimson lipstick and checked to make sure the rest of her makeup was in place. She was unable to go anywhere without looking her absolute best.
She flashed a smile at a few of the men sitting at the table by the door. She shuttered at the lewd comments they spouted her way and she just gave them a sneer. Muttering out words of them not being able to afford her services and walked out the door to wait for her escort.

Jace had all but resigned himself to this playful banter within the group. He had just downed his fifth or sixth drink, he certainly hadn't kept account for his drinks, but he needed to drink if he was going to be marooned on this gorram planet for much longer, not that he minded Three Hills, but he was tired of being on the ground. He had to give Rina a smile, Jace couldn't help but think he had been rude earlier but wasn't sure.
Jace had slowly been drifting till he heard Ilana finally announce it was time to get off this planet. His head was swimming by this point, had he forgotten anything. He nudged Jay speaking unnecessarily loud, "We finally get off this gorram rock, you hear that Jay?" Jace wasn't drink he had a high tolerance for this purple belly piss they called a drink! Jace had lost track of the time, but wondered why Zipper hadn't brought him another drink. Last time he would tip the man for him so slow to get the drinks. Jace was simply ready to leave drinks or not. All Jace needed was the directions to the ship and he was good to go.
(sorry for short one not feeling greatest)

Jay opened his mouth when Ilana hopped in. “Met Jay back on Beaumond. We both worked for Longstreet back then. It wasn't a bad gig, but I don't care much for having my feet on solid ground these days… Give me manufacturer gravity any day… My bad."
Jay snorted at her, “Nothin’ I ain’t used to.” He turned his attention back to Mira, “But basically, yeah. Met them there and we’ve been sticking together ever since. Well, mostly. There’s been a couple in-and-outs and some hiccups along the way. But it’s been a fun ride.”
Then, Ilana spoke up. "Speaking of getting out of the world, we should probably head out soon. I got our things from The Chainless stored in a safe place at the moment, but the battery won't last forever."
Jace then nudged Jay, very obviously drunk. “We finally get to get off this gorram rock, you hear that Jay?” he asked. Jay chuckled and pat him on the shoulder. “Yes we do. Super exciting. Time to go check out the new ship!”
Oh yeah. That. Jay had almost forgotten about the ship they no longer owned. A twinge of anger flared in his gut, but he suppressed it for now. At least their stuff was available. But he at least would like to see the ship before moving all their shit. “Ilana,” Jay said, “Would it be too much of a request to tag along with Marcus and Mira, or do you need my assistance with all the possessions?”

Marcus stepped out the door. Three hills was one of those planets that smelled of dust no matter the time of day or place. It wasn't the worst smell a planet could have, and it was far from the least successful terraforming, if Core worlds were the ideal turn out. Still. Marcus was getting that shake in his spine again. He wanted to move- to fly.
"It's a good night to start a journey." He said aloud, looking up at the stars. The town wasn't big enough to hide them with their light runoff. "Horizon is clear ahead of us."

I'd asked Jay how he knew Ilana and Marcus and saw him draw breath for a reply when Ilana answered for him. Watching the ensuing short exchange, I got the sense that the man was nursing a grievance. Jay had mentioned a new ship but for him, unlike myself, it wasn't a welcome development.
Why?
I fiddled with my beer bottle and frowned at it. I've missed something. Something important. What the hell am I walking into? I cut a glance at Ilana, hoping I could get her alone so she could fill me in privately. Which I realized might be soon, as Marcus and the Companion and Jay rose to leave.
“Ilana,” I heard Jay ask, “Would it be too much of a request to tag along with Marcus and Mira, or do you need my assistance with all the possessions?”
Seeing an opening on two fronts, I took it.
"If you need help shifting cargo, Ilana, I can go with you and free up Jay." I glanced at Jay and gave him a wink before turning back to Ilana. "You've seen me work. You know I'm good for it."
