Osirus, Riley's Peak Docks June 19th, 2518 AST: 12:13 PM Local Time: 6:13 PM
Ilana said goodbye to her compatriots, and left the bar. She reconnected the coil she'd removed earlier to prevent it's theft, and fired up the mulebike. She doubled checked her pocket to make sure the datapad was still secure in her pocket. Finding it where she had left it, she sped away from the bar, towards the ship.
She wound her way carefully through the small amount of traffic and arrived at the ship only a few minutes later. She drove up the cargo ramp and parked the bike by the wall on the port side of the doorway facing the road outside. She turned sideways on her mulebike, waiting for the rest of her crew, and her delivery. She leaned back against the airlock, reading a book on her datapad. It was interesting, if a bit mind-bending.
Despite being fairly relaxed and reading her book, she was paying enough attention to notice if anyone walked up on the ship. It wasn't long before Randall Flagg rode up on a two wheeled motorbike. Ilana rose a brow, admiring the vehicle. It was sleek and black, not like anything you'd see on the border, and definitely not the rim. When he stopped at the bottom of the cargo ramp, she climbed down from her own vehicle and walked down the ramp to greet him. "Hey there! Glad to see you found her," she said, referring to the ship.

Randall parked his bike at the bottom of the ramp and climbed off. Ilana was already striding down the ramp toward him. "Hey there! Glad to see you found her," she said to him.
He nodded and said, "Thank you, the cargo will be here just a moment. The hauler can only go so fast, and I don't care for driving slow."
Before she had a chance to answer, the hauler arrived and the men aboard began unloading it. "Load it against the wall side by side so they can be secured by the crew. Don’t stack them," he said to the men as they hauled the first crate up the ramp.
Ilana stayed quiet while Randall gave the men directions and they began hauling the first one into the cargo bay. It was about four square feet. They set the crate down just a few feet inside and flush against the wall, and left again to get the others. She began securing the first crate and finished just as the men arrived with the second, so she moved on to securing that one. It went on like that for the rest until the fourth and final crate was secured. She pulled the net down over the crates and headed back down the ramp toward him.
She shook his hand and said, "Thank you sir. It'll be safely delivered within 14 days as discussed. It will likely be half of that considering the short distance, but I like to overestimate a bit in case of any unforeseen complications."
He watched her flit around securing the crates. When she appeared to be satisfied that they were properly secured, she headed back down the ramp to him and shook her hand when it was offered. "Thank you sir. It'll be safely delivered within 14 days as discussed. It will likely be half of that considering the short distance, but I like to overestimate a bit in case of any unforeseen complications," she said.
He nodded and said, "Yes ma'am. That will be perfect. We look forward to hearing from you."
He hesitated a moment, then said, "A bit of advice, just in case? Remember to keep your temper. For now I must be going. I have much to do."
Without leaving her time to say anything else, he climbed on his bike and sped away.

"Yes ma'am. That will be perfect. We look forward to hearing from you," Randall said with a smile.
For a moment he seemed as though he had more to say, then he hesitated. She stood quiet, giving him a moment to sort out his thoughts. Then he said, "A bit of advice, just in case? Remember to keep your temper. For now I must be going. I have much to do."
With that he climbed on his bike, and sped away, leaving Ilana standing there bewildered. Sure, she used to have an issue with her temper, of course. She still does at times. Everyone on her crew knew that, but she'd been a whole lot calmer as of late. Not to mention, he wouldn't have had any way to know this about her either. She wasn't offended, just really confused. "What does that mean?!" She asked aloud to no one.
I thought we'd been rather pleasant with each other, if somewhat transactional, she thought, walking back up the cargo bay ramp.
She took her seat back up on the mulebike and began reading again, waiting for the crew to arrive for the night. She had some things to tell the crew before they headed out. Things she hadn't had a chance to get to before Randall had arrived.

After Ilana mentioned not needing to come back until the morning, a thought struck Jay’s head – he could find a nice companion perhaps, have the type of enjoyable evening he hadn’t had in a very long time. Unfortunately, after a quick search he found nothing worth shelling out the money for. At the very least, he could find some entertainment. Soak up the last bit of world before shipping out.
After some more exploring, he made his way back to the ship somewhat reluctantly. As he arrived, several men were wrapping up loading the cargo. As he approached he heard Randall, the gentleman from the bar, advise Ilana not to lose her temper.
She said, “What does that mean?!”
Jay waved at her as he came up the ramp, passing Randall with little more than a glance. “Are we in store for more crime?” he asked casually, leaning on one of the crates, arms crossed. He looked at Ilana with a half-joking smirk.

[Changing my post because I lost track which thread I was in. My mistake!--TPO Rina]
[New post]
Rina detoured to a bath house on her way back to Eden. Showers were fine for everyday maintenance but grit and grime had a way of working beneath one's skin, despite, and required a good hot soak to remove. So ... bath house. She found one that didn't look too disreputable, ordered tea and dumplings, and paid her fee for a private room. The attendant showed her the way and slid back the door to reveal a sunken tub already filled and steaming. Rina slipped the attendant a tip along with her thanks and sat down on the step to remove her boots before stepping inside.
Once the door was closed, Rina wasted no time getting into that tub. The heat stung but she put up with it 'til her body accepted it, slowly unwinding from the tensions of the days, possibly weeks, as she got started on a really good scrub. She had to stop in the middle of it when her tray arrived, slipped discreetly inside through a bare sliver of a gap, preserving a customer's modesty.
Water splashed and ran as Rina quit the tub to retrieve it. A footstool made a perfectly serviceable table for the tray. Rina slid back under the water and raised the lid of the teapot for a sniff. Quality jasmine tea lent its aroma to the peony-scented soap and Rina's head tipped back on her first sip.
Ahhh .... Bliss....
Out came the chopsticks and off came the cover on the food. Rina discovered the dumplings possessed the perfect combination of juicy meat and toothy chew. They didn't stand a chance. A moment later, the plate was squeaky clean. Half an hour later, Rina was too.
She left the bath house with a twinge of regret, knowing it would be some time before she had the opportunity to soak again. But thoughts of how she might mod the ship to accept a tub occupied her thoughts all the way back to Eden.
***
[Old post--because I want to catalogue my failures as well as my successes ... : Rina didn't plan on lingering at the bar once Ilana left. Just sitting around drinking wasn't her idea of a good time. On the other hand, talking to their newest hire did seem like a good idea. "So, Samantha," Rina asked. "Do you need any help getting your belongings installed on Eden? If so, I can lend a hand if you need it."]

Ilana turned to walk back to the bike to wait and saw Jay. He gave her a wave, and started up the Ramp. She fell in step beside him and asked, "Are we in for more crime?"
Up top, Jay leaned against one of the crates, arms crossed, smirking. The crate gave the faint creak that thin wood often does when pressure of any kind is applied. She laughed, amused, and said "I don't believe so, but I'm glad you're here, Doc. You guys had your R&R this weekend, and I took some time to find a way to show my appreciation for my crew. Especially those that've been around a while, and well - out of everyone here, you've been with me the longest."
She paused for a moment to collect her thoughts. "First, I have ahem, acquired -" Ilana waggled her eyebrows at him dramatically. "- a few things for you that I believe you will appreciate. When you pay a visit to the infirmary next, you'll find it's been restocked. Fully restocked. You'll find you've got some new equipment in there too. I managed to get my hands on a dermal mender, and I had your operating theater updated. It's not top of the line or anything, but it's better. Unfortunately, I didn't have the coin, nor the time to set up a heist, to get you an imaging suite though."
She gasped suddenly, and excitedly said, "I almost forgot! I got you something else earlier too. It's still in my duffel."
Ilana darted across the cargo bay to the mulebike where her duffel was sitting, and unzipped it. She hauled out a long, elegant sword. She held it resting on both upturned palms, and held it out to him. In very small letters at the very top of the sheath on the thin metal band, "Chopsticks" was engraved in an elegant script. It wasn't very noticeable, but Jay would no doubt spot it. As a doctor, he had a good eye for details.

Ilana laughed along with Jay before saying, "I don't believe so, but I'm glad you're here, Doc. Especially those that've been around a while, and well - out of everyone here, you've been with me the longest."
"Shit," he said, "You're right. I nearly forgot." It's true - he and Ilana had been on a crew together long before The Eden was even a blip in their eye. He had gotten used to the oldest members of the crew being himself, the captain and Jace - though their history went several crewmembers before that even.
Before he could really dive into reminiscence, she continued; "First, I have ahem, acquired -" Ilana waggled her eyebrows at him dramatically, to which Jay put a hand across his collarbone dramatically, as if to say "Little ole me? Why, I never!"
"- a few things for you that I believe you will appreciate. When you pay a visit to the infirmary next, you'll find it's been restocked. Fully restocked. Jay nearly jumped, excited, "Seriously??"
And then, she pulled out a sword. Oh, fuck, a sword?[/i} How did she even know Jay loved swords! His eyes lit up and he was obviously at a loss for words. "Wǒ de tiān a, Ilana, I-" then he noticed the words "Chopsticks" on the sheathe and his face went flat into a fake-annoyed look. He pointed at it.
"Seriously?" he said. He held it by one hand, brandishing it so the words faced Ilana, "Listen, Ray was hot but he was a bī dài, he deserved to get surgery-d with kitchen utensils."
He let out a laugh, and pulled Ilana into a tight hug, something he didn't do often to people. He wasn't very touchy unless with people he felt comfortable and close with. "Thank you," he said, "This is amazing."
Jay stepped back and began twirling his sword around, admiring it gleaming in the cargo bay lights. "I can't wait to stab someone with this."

(This is a response to Rina's post)
Sam's place was only a few minutes from the pub. It was basically a room that she had rented on a week to week basis. Really, the young woman had been here longer than she had originally planned. Perhaps, too long.
The first thing was a shower, after the shift at work, it was a good idea before leaving. Next packing which consisted mostly of a single duffle bag. Part of always being on the move was packing light.
Next was to fire up her datebook, and set an alarm so she didn't get too sucked in. It took a few moments but eventually she had hacked into local feeds of people officials were looking for. Samantha Greystone, her actual name, came up but it went in to say the last lead they had on her was a bust. Her data book and accessories went into its case. Turned out she didn't need the alarm.
One look around, and Sam realized she almost forgot her toiletries. Well, that made another much smaller bag. It was still nothing she couldn't carry herself. One more look, this time everything was packed and ready.
Her black leather jacket went on, her bags over her shoulder and then it was downstairs, then to say goodbye to the woman that was the owner/manager/front desk person.
A quick stop back at the pub to say goodbye. Sam didn't miss that the crew had left but wasn't concerned with it.
Then the petite brunette headed down the street. She didn't exactly take a direct route there. Stopping in a few shops and going a little more out of her way, just to be safe. That led her to the area that housed the baths.

Rina was deep in thought over the mods but she still had the presence of mind to keep one eye on the street. She spotted a familiar face in the crowd and adjusted her course to intercept. Once she got close enough, she called out for the recipient's ears alone.
"Hey, Sam." Rina fell into step next to the new hire. "Need a hand with that?"

Sihnon, House Madrassa June 15th, 2518 2:00 PM AST 4:00 PM Local Time
The House Priestess, Ashana, made her way down the stairs to the entryway. Dressed in an elegant, beaded saree in deep reds and golds, she came to stand in front of Roman. She took his shoulders and placed a delicate kiss on his cheek.
"Are you sure you do not wish to stay, dear Roman?" Ashana asked with a smile. "You have been a great help with the children these last months since your return."
"I thank you for saying so, priestess, but I've found in my years that I'm much happier out in the 'verse. I can see everything there is to see, and take a much larger range of clients to learn even more," he said. "I will return from time to time, and I promise not to wait so long next time."
"If you must, then I will not stand in your way, but you will always be welcome here," she said.
He nodded deeply, carefully, to show his respect of the woman in front of him. She was genuinely a lovely person, both inside and out. Which is how she became the House Priestess, he thought.
Roman smiled and said, "I must be going priestess, or I will miss my ride.
With that, Roman turned and strode out the door. He left the training center with everything he owned. It was packed into four fairly large crates that were crammed into the small transport he was taking to Osirus.
Osirus, Riley's Peak Docks June 19th, 2518 AST: 12:30 PM Local Time: 6:30 PM
Roman rode in the passenger seat of a cargo mule, the crates packed with his belongings were stacked behind him. The driver slowed and came to a stop in front of Savannah, and he smiled, glad to see the old girl again. He climbed down from his seat as the driver began preparing to unload his belongings. He walked casually up the ramp to the cargo bay and saw a young man standing with Ilana. He'd met the man before, though he didn't She was talking excitedly to the man. He stood at the bottom of the cargo ramp, watching amused as she darted across the cargo bay before presenting the man with a sword, a very nice one from the look of it.
The man was clearly pleased, he appeared to go through a range of emotions, including annoyance but Roman couldn't figure out why, and settled on pulling her into a tight hug. Roman walked up the cargo bay ramp wearing an easy smile with his standard off-white suit.
"I hope I'm not too late to load up before you leave," he said to Ilana.

Jay was clearly excited from the moment she started talking about the infirmary. The smile when he saw the sword though was worth every coin she'd shelled out for that fancy piece of metal.
"Wǒ de tiān a, Ilana, I-" he began. She knew the exact moment that he noticed the tiny engraving. His face fell into an annoyed look, clearly exaggerated, and pointed at it. She grinned.
"Seriously?" he said. He thrust it in her direction, showing her the engraving as though she'd never seen it. Her smile got wider the longer he ranted, obviously fighting laughter.
"Listen, Ray was hot but he was a bī dài, he deserved to get surgery-d with kitchen utensils."
She laughed out loud finally. That was the closest Jay had ever come to telling her he was sly; she was glad he trusted her. Jay laughed too, then pulled Ilana into a tight hug, surprising her. She'd expected him to be excited, but she hadn't been expecting a hug. She rallied quickly and squeezed Jay affectionately in return.
"Thank you," he said, "This is amazing."
He began twirling the sword around still grinning. "I can't wait to stab someone with this."
Ilana barked a surprised laugh at that, and out of the corner of her eye, she saw Roman sauntering up the cargo ramp. "I hope I'm not too late to load up before you leave," he said.
"No, of course not. I-" she started, pausing when she thought she heard gunshots a ways off. She didn't even have time to react before hearing Jace's panicked voice in her ear, "Captain! Fire up the ship Helios done and did stupid get us out of here! Shots fired feds will be on us quick!"
"Liu Kou Shui De Biao Zi He Hou Zi De Er Zi!" Ilana shouted into her earpiece. "Hold tight. I'll be there soon!"
Ilana scrambled across the bay to get the mule trailer and connected it quickly while she talked. "Jay, this is Roman Kline. He's taking the starboard shuttle so kindly let him load his belongings. Also, prep the med bay for my return. We might very well need it. Roman, guard the cargo bay while Jay preps the infirmary. Helios fucked up somehow and there's been shots fired. I don't know if anyone's hit."
She didn't have time to wait for a response from either of the men. She jumped on the bike and zoomed off toward the shop. Into her comm as she raced down the ramp she shouted, "Rina! If you're nearby get to the ship or meet me at the game shop. Shots fired!"

Jay reveled in making Ilana laugh. As he saw a new face walk up, he looked over, and put the sword back in its sheathe. He was a tall man, not quite as tall as Jace, but still tall. Decked out in all white, Jay's first impression was that he was way to fancy to be on this crew. His second thought was that the crew could use a little more fancy.
"I hope I'm not too late to load up before you leave," he said, addressing Ilana. Jay looked over to her. Another new crew member?
"No, of course not. I-"
Gunshots. Jay looked past the newcomer and into the town. Something told him that it was most likely...
"Liu Kou Shui De Biao Zi He Hou Zi De Er Zi!" Ilana shouted into her earpiece. "Hold tight. I'll be there soon!"
Yep, it was their crew. Ilana darted toward the mule trailer and connected to the bike, giving out instructions as she did so. Helios was the one to cause the trouble, naturally. Jay almost barked out a snarky comment about why that little bastard was still on the crew, but decided to keep his mouth shut in front of the new company.
Instead, he donned as best of a welcoming smile as he could muster, and looked to Roman. "Hi Roman, I'm Jay, the crew's medic-" he pointed to his sword, "-and this is my new sword. Welcome on board. The shuttles are up the stairs, right across from the medbay, so it sounds like we'll be cabin neighbors. If you need to drop some stuff off now, you can follow me up, but you'll want to be quick. Doesn't sound they were far off."
Jay began making his way up to the next level of the ship. He walked around the corner, dipped into his room to toss the sword on his bed, then went into the medbay.
He began prepping for the usual - it had been a minute since the infirmary had been used for anything other than a papercut. He began by pulling out the emergency and standard medical supplies and arranging them on the counter, along with his doctor's bag. He pulled out a couple numbing agents in syringes, and an adrenaline, just in case. Then he quickly grabbed a sanitary wipe and wiped down the operating table, getting rid of the dust that had accumulating.

Sam heard Rina's voice before she spotted her. "Hey. Well, I won't pass up the offer. Thanks." She handed the other woman her toiletries bag, which wasn't particularly big. Rina tucked the bag under her arm and gave the other woman an easy grin. " Pozhaluysta. You're welcome. C'mon, Eden's this wa— Trakhni menya!" Rina jerked aside, grabbed her right ear, and gave her head a single hard shake. She straightened and her easy attitude was gone. Her voice was hoarse and grim. "Trouble." Her lips pressed into a tight line as she considered it. Then: "Helios has done something monumentally stupid. It may get ugly. You coming? Or going to our ship?" A trio of shots fired, clearly audible and close by, only added urgency to Rina's question and she thrust the toiletries bag back at Sam. "Decide. I have to go. Now."

Shots could be heard from somewhere not too far away and Rina's seemed to be pinged over her com. Whether or not Sam could see the com, didn't matter, she knew the look all to well. Trouble, already? The fact that Sam was being invited to help so soon was surprising. This should be interesting. She wanted to go fight but then realized that she was carrying all her stuff. "I think I should head to the ship." Catching her bag.

Sam didn't wait around, she made for the ship. Arriving there as soon as she could.
Eden was pretty easy to find but when she got to the ship, Sam realized she had no idea if anyone was there to let her on-board and she hadn't been given the code to get in.
There was someone there, he seemed to be guarding the cargo but looked to well dressed for the job.
"Hey, I'm Sam. The new cook." She introduced herself before quickly getting on-board and moving out of the way.

Ivy wandered out of her room and toward the cargo bay. She'd had a nice little weekend meandering around Osirus, taking in the sights, shopping, and whatnot. Walking through the ship, she just made it up to the main level when Jay darted into his room with a sword, then darted back out empty handed. into the infirmary coming from the direction of the cargo bay.
Her curiosity piqued, she went down to the cargo bay. From the mezzanine, she could see a woman she didn't know introduce herself to a man she also didn't know. Where did they come from?" she thought to herself.
She'd never seen them before, so she waited a moment and headed back toward the infirmary to chastise the doctor about running with sharp objects.

Rina jumped off the trailer and slapped the door controls closed. A massive whir and grind, followed by a boom!, announced the cargo bay was buttoned up tight.
"I'll spin her up!" Rina yelled to the general air and hustled up to engineering. Even if they weren't blazing out of here, it wouldn't hurt to get things warmed up to go.
