Orbit over Delynn, 4th Moon of Zeus

”Well I hope you find who did it 49. Take it easy” Morse said sympathetically towards a screen that was right in front of him. Just behind it there was a large and expansive window out into the darkness of space. As was expected stars twinkled all around, but what was unusual was the large gas giant that was just off to the right. The giant sphere was a sight to behold, especially knowing that as large at is was, nothing could exist on it, or even stand on it. The large red ship was hardly even an atom by comparison. Behind the ship there was a rocky world, Delynn, which regularly circled the mighty giant that was Zeus. There were two large worlds that were visible from where they were as well, some of the other teraformed moons which moved around Zeus on their own respective patterns. The sad part, in a larger way of thinking, was that these moons very well could have been planets themselves, if only the mighty Zeus wasn’t in their way. But the giant gas ball served as a beautiful thing for the locals to have in their sky, so no one ever did complain.
Morse reached his hand forward to the console and shut off the cortex connection. While the screen was on his face showed a depressed sadness that one would show for a friend who had fallen on hard times. The moment it clicked off and the connection was severed, his eyes rolled in his head, and across his face, just above his chin, there formed a great smile of satisfaction. ”That was easy.” He said to himself, turning and leaning back on the console.
3 Hours Earlier
”GET EM UP, GET EM UP, GET EM UP!!!!” Morse yelled. His voice was muffled by a piece of brown cloth that was over his mouth. On his eyes there were a set of dust goggles that were commonly worn out on the rim. In his hands there was a large automatic rifle. He turned to his left, seeing someone off to the side carrying a weapon. Before either of them could do anything about the other, there was an eruption of noise, like chains being hit against the ground in rapid succession. Morse moved back a little bit towards the large red vessel which sat behind him. Inside, a masked Bobo was manning a recently purchased, machine gun. Sure they were illegal, but they were very helpful. Just next to him a large yellow vehicle hovering about 3 feet off the ground moved up onto the ramp which was laid out on the dirt. It had two seats, on which Scruggs, a rag with holes in the eyes covering his face, sat at the left. He was dwarfed however by a very large set of metal boxes which were stacked high and locked on the vehicle he drove. The heavy mule made a lot of noise, and kicked up dirt all around it.
The night on Delynn was typically dark, but no so much that you couldn’t see, as the mighty Zeus hovered above them. The large gas giant usually kept the world fairly well lit as it reflected much of the light that hit it. This night however was much brighter then others, and noisier too. Several hundred meters away from the giant red ship, there was a massive pyre. The fire reached high into the sky, and the smell of burning fuel was everywhere. This blended well with the sound of explosions, ship engines, and gunfire. Almost none of the shooting was coming from the end that the Logan was on. Next to the ship however, and on down for quite a ways, there were well over a dozen other vessels. They all were facing a large compound which was comprised of several buildings. The flashes of muzzles was like sparks in the giant fireball that was slowly spreading. At the end of the row of ships there were several ships that had exploded and pieces of them lay all over the ground. What was more was the large tanks of fuel, which many of these vessels were connected to, was completely ablaze. The furious crew of those ships at the end had shot someone in anger, which exploded into a larger gun fight. Some of the other docked ships had started stealing anything they could get their hands on, whether it was part of the compound, or in the cargo bay of another ship. All the while, the fire continued to spread, and another ship that was too close would sustain a lot of damage. At this point it was just take what you could without risking everything you had.
The trading post was in a complete state of chaos, where early that day it was completely fine. A ship lifted off and headed towards the sky. Morse looked out down towards the fire, watching another vessel which was attached to a fuel line get sucked into the blaze. ”That fire burned better then I thought it would.” Morse mentioned stepping back towards the ramp of his ship, remarking on the ease that it had been to make such a large thing. Several minutes earlier he and Bobo had been over there setting mining charges on it, namely near the line starts. Morse had unhooked their ship hours earlier, but not everyone else had been as thorough as him. The smugglers den that this Trading Outpost was, was just a battlefield of criminals. But that battle had served as a very good distraction, which allowed them to take the “Excavators” right out of one of the compound warehouses without much issue. And while the security of the facility was trying to deal with the more aggressive people at the other end, they’d moved right out with them, of course removing those that were in the way at the time.
Seeing that the heavy mule had managed to get aboard and locked in safely, Morse turned and walked up the ramp himself. Bobo his the console as he did and the ramp began moving up. ”Andy, up in out!” He said once he was aboard. The massive engines on the vessel had already been ready, and had been the reason Morse had to yell in the first place, other then acting the part of panic. Within a few seconds Morse could feel the shift in gravity as the vessel took off.
3 Hours Later
Morse scratched at his head, still leaning on the console. He folded his arms a moment and his tongue pushed out on his cheek. ”I think we coulda just used one charge.” He said thinking aloud. They had put three on the fuel regulator, just to be absolutely sure that it would do the damage they needed it to. ”Oh well.” Morse said lifting off of the console. ”Keep us heading straight. I smell a party on Paquin, that we gotta be there for.”He finished, leaving Andy sitting in the pilots chair on the left alone on the bridge.
