History:
Born January 2, 2447, Longstreet had a very prominent upbringing in wealthy class on Athens. His father owned a large plantation, and a handful of marble mines. He was well educated from a young age. He was the youngest of five children, and was one of the more honor bound of the boys. He had wanted to be a soldier all his life, following after his father who had been a soldier as well.
When he turned 26 he applied to the Alliance Military Academy in Westerville on Verbena, one the most prestigious Military Academies in recent history. He graduated 19th in a class of 64, and didn’t score much more than average in academics, but he was well liked among his fellow cadets. He was first given a command at Thomas Barracks as a Lieutenant. Over the years he gradually rose through the ranks to Major.
He grew to be a rather well liked commander of forces. He demanded quite a lot of respect from the troops under his command. As time went on, it was no surprise he made the rank of Colonel.
Several years later, he began to invest in Clay mining, as well as the manufacture of plastic. Though he was in the military, he devoted most of his salary to nothing but business investments. He started a crop trading hub on his home world Athens several years later, which came to be widely used. He was quickly gaining outside wealth from these little enterprises, though it wasn’t the most encouraged thing being the military.
It was in 2505 that things started to take a serious turn. Longstreet wasn’t oblivious to the political turmoil which was boiling up in the colonies. He knew it was only a matter of time before he had to choose a side himself, whether to fight for the Rims independence, or the Core’s Unification. While he did support the idea of Unification, his homeworld had seceded, and he decided that he would fight for his world rather than his politics.
He joined the Independent Army, and was awarded the same rank he had held in the Alliance Military. However, only two months later, he was appointed Major General for his actual combat experience and commendations. He was present for a large battle of Verbena, but had been guarding a flank the Alliance never attacked. Soon though, the Alliance reinforced their attack, and at this point Longstreet received much more attention. He was one of the primary commanders responsible for sending the Alliance Army into a full retreat, in spite of being outnumbered and outgunned.
While the war raged on, Longstreet began to expand his commercial empire. He set up several more trading posts, one on Beaumonde, the other on Verbena. These were good places, as the Border worlds were prime placement for contraband items to be transferred. He started to understand the value of smuggling, but continued to focus on the war.
He and Alliance forces met again at a battle on Ezra, where yet again they were victorious over a much larger Alliance force. It was here though one of his Colleagues and former Academy mate General Vargas was killed. He himself wasn’t bothered much by it, but it was strange to hear that one of his generation being killed in this war. It was during heavy battles on the border that their advance was finally halted, and by 2509 they were put on the defensive once again. It was here that a bombing run on his headquarters caused a support collapse which caused him to sustain rather serious blow the the head. He would be fine however, and after receiving medical attention was right back directing troops. Slowly the Independents war began to become a losing fight, as after year after year they gained little ground, but they did hold out. And as this happened Longstreet began to make preparations for after the war. He began to get more involved in running his enterprises and made more investments in trading outposts.
He was present for the battle of Serenity, but only for the first month, after which he was called to help hold the line on Verbena. Serenity Battle was horrifying, and brutal. Verbena, wasn’t nearly as bad. There were light skirmishes here and there, but nothing more then constant retreat to a better position. Finally he was called to the peace accords where he met with many of his former Colleagues from the Military Academy. They deliberated for weeks, and Longstreet did very little to influence them. He knew the war was over, and so he quickly got his affairs in order for the aftermath. He learned of several smuggling operations, and got involved in the management of them, all while trying to maintain a presence at the negotiation.
Finally, the peace accords were signed, Longstreets name being placed on it as well, surrendering his army over to the Alliance. He, like most of the officers, were treated kindly and spent no time in an Alliance Prison. He had never turned his back on his former friends from the Academy and because of this, he was treated very well. He moved to Beaumonde after the war was over, and moved his trading outpost there to a larger location in the Industrial Section of Bellforge. On one side of the building it is set up like a standard trading outpost, and on the other a warehouse, which opens up near the docks.
He runs his operation from here, with a man he refers to as ‘The Lieutenant’ acting as his right hand man. He is deeply involved in smuggling illegal items from the Core to the Rim, and is involved in other sorts of criminal activities as well. He pays off the Alliance officers in his region, and is respected by some of them for his time in the Alliance Military. He is known for throwing a party or two, and the first invitations always go to the valiant “Boys in Blue”. The alliance officers have bestowed upon him the nickname of “The Giver” for his very “charitable nature”, and this name has carried on throughout the verse’s underworld.

“Tell him to ship it through Whitefall, make sure to tell them no stops this time.” Longstreet said looking at a screen across the wall from his desk. On it a man dressed in very proper clothing with bowler hat. Behind him the image of ships taking off and cargo being moved were visible.
“You got it Colonel, I’ll make sure it gets there on time, you can count on it.” He said very quickly, but he seemed a bit frightened.
“Relax, Mr. Ruth, I’m sure you’ll make this happen, I have confidence in your competence.” Longstreet said, clicking a button on the desk which made the screen go blank. “Idiot.” He said after doing so. He went back to filling out and approving a work order for 7 men at an Athens trading outpost.
Suddenly a man walked in, one of his “Workers”. The man was wearing somewhat ragged clothing, and was considerably muscular.
Longstreet looked up. “What is it Carl.” He said before the man had an opportunity to announce himself.
“Sir, we found that guy snoopin around in our warehouse again, the one what’s been peakin through our boxes and grabbin some of our property.”
Longstreet didn’t look very concerned. “Is he here now?” He asked, he had stopped filling out the order.
“Yes sir, Colonel, he is.” The man, Carl, responded.
Longstreet gave a bit of a sigh. “Alright, bring him in.”
The large man turned and walked out the door, to help another large man drag in a weak looking little ragamuffin, who couldn’t have been more then 20 years old. Longstreet stood up, and poured himself a small drink, and another glass along with it. The small man was cringing in fear as they sat him down in a chair across from Longstreet’s desk. The men stood against the wall behind him.
“Would you like a drink?” Longstreet said to the man. He was cowering in fear and seemed out of breathe.
The man, Carl, suddenly walked up next to him. “ANSWER HIM!” he yelled right in the mans ear.
He screamed in fear and then shot the words “No, no thank you.” He spat out, the fear filling his tone.
Longstreet remained at a small bar, and put the glass down. “Surely you aren’t above my hospitality.” He said pouring the glass. “It’s a very rare treat when I have guests.” He filled it very low to match his own and brought it over to him. He held the glass in front of the man.
The man’s hands shook rapidly as he tried to grasp the glass. “Th-th-th-thank, ya-ya-you” He said. He couldn’t get his words out hardly at all he was so scared.
Longstreet took a small sip from his glass. “Mmm, excellent quality, go ahead drink up.” He said to the man in the chair.
The man couldn’t move he was so scared.
“DRINK!” Carl yelled at the man, which drew another scared shriek. The man held the glass up to his lips and tried to drink from the glass.
Longstreet moved to the bar and re filled his glass to the same amount. “My associate here tells me you’ve been giving yourself a tour of the premises, find anything interesting?” He asked the man
“N-n-n-n-no sir.” The man said shaking.
Longstreet turned and walked slowly towards the front of his desk. “That’s a shame, we have such a fine building here, I’d hoped you’d seen the more catching points.” He stopped in front of the desk. “Of course, I hope you’re not being humble, it’d be a shame if you weren’t being forthcoming. I don’t like being lied to.” He said. He looked back at Carl a moment who came up behind the mans chair. “And you say you found nothing that peaked your interest even the slightest?” He asked again.
The man was quicker with his answer this time. “No sir.” He said.
Longstreet looked at Carl again. Carl’s eyes met his, and Carl grabbed the man’s wrist, and twisted it with a snap. A cracking sound was heard and the man screamed. The glass in his hand fell to the floor, and his wrist was in a very unnatural position. He fell to the floor writhing in agony.
“Well, so long as you are being honest with me, there’s no need for hostility. And I should hope that you’ll tell everyone else that there’s nothing of interest here, should it come up in conversation. As It would be a shame if you were to change your story on my behalf to make me appear to be more then I am.” Longstreet shifted his weight and peered right in the mans eyes. “Understand.”
There was a pause and Carl shouted “ANSWER THE QUESTION!”
The man spat his answer out quickly “Yes, yes, yes, I understand, please, please don’t…” He got out.
“Excellent, well I’m afraid I have to go back to work, but I’ve enjoyed your visit. Carl, please show him to him out.” Longstreet said.
Carl and the other man picked him up by the arms and dragged him outside. The doors closed behind him, and Longstreet stood in his office alone. He picked the glass up and set it back over on the bar. He washed it out a bit, and then moved back over to his desk and began filling out the work order once more.
