ISCS Inquiry
-I.A.V Unhindered Truth
-Recalling May 17, 2511
Inquirer - Major K. Parkhill
Witness - Corporal R. Smith (24 years old, Corporal of the Alliance Military)
1500 hours, Interrogation Room N9. Corporal Smith is seated at the end of a metal table, Major Parkhill is seated at the other end reviewing information in a file he brought in with him.
Parkhill - Let's begin, state your name and rank for the record please
Smith - Corporal Smith, 4th squad, Richter Platoon, 96th Alliance Forward Infantry Devision
Parkhill - How long have you been in the Infantry Corporal
Smith - 3 years sir
Parkhill - And you were present at the Battle of Serenity correct?
Smith - I was sir
Parkhill - In the days that followed the surrender of the Independents what was your assignment
Smith - Our platoon was to move through the former Browncoat territory. We were to locate and accept the surrender of any Browncoat soldiers, and eliminate any who refused.
Parkhill - And three days into that assignment your squad located, and obtained the surrender of the Independent Vessel Logan and it's crew correct.
Smith - That is correct sir.
Parkhill - Could you describe the event in detail to me.
Smith - Do you want me to describe the entire days events or just...
Parkhill - Just the events that took place in locating and obtaining the surrender of Captain Morse and his crew. And be as elaborate as you can please.
Smith - ... Ok. It was about 1400 hours I think. The sun was high up in the sky, and all you could see around was the barren land. We we're about 50 miles or so from ground zero, where the orbital shelling occurred. The five men in the squad weren't particularly vigilant, ya know, since the war was over and all. It was basically like a walk through desert in full gear. It was about 90 degrees, but it felt like it was well over a hundred. We had just passed over a small hill and were continuing with a decent pace forward. It was about that time we saw a glint off in the distance, ya know like there was somethin metallic up ahead.
Parkhill - Go on.
Smith - Well we didn't have a set of binoculars, so we figured we'd go forward and check it out.
Parkhill - You didn't call it in to your commander first?
Smith - We wanted to know what we should call it in as first.
Parkhill - Alright, continue
Smith - So we kept on moving towards it, and as we get closer we can make out a set a big engines on the side of it, and we figure it's a ship. At this point we got our weapons ready and we're movin up in a v type squad formation. As we're getting closer we can make out that on the side of this ship, there's like some kind of big tarp thing, draped on the side. When we got a bit closer we could see there was some sort of writing on the tarp, but we weren't close enough to read it.
Parkhill - And what happened next?
Smith - We got within about 100 meters of ship, and we can see the cargo ramps down, and in front of it there are about 7 guys sitting out in what look like lawn chairs. At this point we called it into the commander and he ordered us to engage. So we proceeded, weapons ready, and came up on em pretty fast. They didn't see us till we were just outside of the desert foliage and inside of the dirt clearing they had landed in.
Parkhill - And then what happened
Smith - I ordered them to put them to put their hands up and surrender while the others in the squad approached from beside me. But they uh.... They didn't move. Actually they uh... just looked at one of em who was pretty much seated in the middle of em all. He had long blonde hair and a black coat on. He had a drink of somethin in his hands and he just looked back at me. Said somethin to.
Parkhill - And what did he say.
Smith - He said. "Read the sign ya purple belly.... Hun Dan"
Parkhill - And what did the sign say.
Smith - The big tarp read "Thank Us For Not Shootin First, and Talking Later"
Parkhill - I see, ha, and you arrested them a presume
Smith - A hover transport came up soon after that and they were transported back to the prison camp.
Parkhill - Did Captain Morse say anything else other then that while you spoke to him
Smith - You mean the blonde guy i guess. Well not much, only other thing he really did was refuse to give up his flask which was filled with some God awful smelling liquor. So we just let em keep and we sent em all back to camp 53
Parkhill - Hmm... This has been very interesting, Thank you Corporal, you may return to your transport for transfer back to your station now.
